|
|
I'm just starting out at looking into CGIDEV2 as a means to modernise our applications and, of course, happened across Renaissance at the same time.
It all looks rather involved and I've not got lots of time available to me to 'play around' in order to get my head around how it all works and produce a working piece of code to demo to my bosses, so I was wondering if there were any courses available for CGIDEV2 programming and/or Renaissance itself?
I've ordered a book on CGIDEV2 programming and so I'm eagerly waiting the arrival of that, but it'd be great to get some hands-on help in order to get up and running as quickly as possible.
Cheers,
Paul. |

You will probably be best off looking at the tutorials here as a starter: http://www.easy400.net/easy400p/maindown.html#d2
Renaissance uses CGIDEV2 but IMHO you would be better off learning the basics before diving in to it.
I have also attached a short training course that I do here which you can follow to get started. It takes you through the basics. |

Thanks for the slides Kevin - they look pretty comprehensive and as soon as I gain access to *SECADM I'll be following them to get everything set up.
One thing though: the last slide says "there is another course to go into more detail" - so I take it that you run courses on Renaissance, yes?
If so, would you be able to send me some details?
Cheers,
Paul. |

There was supposed to be another in-depth Renaissance course, but it has been left behind by the development of RNS 5.0 and now the RNS IDE.
Offering Renaissance training is something we want to get to grips with, but finding time to write and prepare the course(s) is proving difficult. We have a catch -22 where it is only worthwhile running courses if we can generate enough revenue to cover the costs of the venue etc. In order to assess demand we would have to advertise the course, and to do that we would have to prepare the material (and the marketing blurb).
I think once we have the IDE ready we will be in a better position to offer training courses, and we hope to have a prototype ready by October 2010. |
